5 Steps to Become a Machinist Pro

 If you’re curious about not only becoming a machinist but becoming a top machinist, we urge you to investigate these 5 steps.
 Do your homework
Not all machinists are the same, so it is important to understand the specific aspects that go along with each specialized area of machining. This is imperative to building a well rounded and efficient skill set.
Seek training
Become trained in the area of machining that you wish to work in. The best way to do this is through an apprenticeship, which can be sponsored by a manufacturing company or union. The best options are classroom-based and practical training programs.
Finish your apprenticeship
Enroll in a four-year program to ensure a holistic understanding of the trade. Although two-year programs are offered, achieving a complete version of machining fundamentals is recommended.
Get NIMS certified
After the completion of your apprenticeship, you are qualified and strongly encouraged to acquire credentials from the National Institute of Metalworking Skills.
Level up
Never stop learning and improving. Become a specialist in a certain area, for example in tool and die making, and open your own shop. Become a CNC programmer to broaden your skill set. Don’t settle, continue learning and educating yourself in some capacity.
